Dr Thomas Crowhurst

Dr Crowhurst is a specialist physician in respiratory and sleep medicine. He prides himself on his excellent communication and caring approach, and is committed to providing optimal care for his patients.
Dr Crowhurst received his medical degree from the University of Adelaide. He went on to complete his basic training and specialist respiratory / sleep medicine training at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, receiving his fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2020 (AHPRA Number MED0001855726). He was the chief thoracic registrar at the Royal Adelaide Hospital for two years. He subsequently undertook a fellowship in lung transplantation at The Alfred in Melbourne, which is one of the largest lung transplantation programs in the world. Dr Crowhurst was awarded a Master of Philosophy (Clinical Science) degree from the University of Adelaide in 2024 for his research into the use of impulse oscillometry for chronic lung allograft dysfunction.
Dr Crowhurst is certified in the full range of bronchoscopic and pleural procedures by the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand. He is involved in a number of clinical trials examining innovative models of care in the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network, as well as studies examining lung allograft dysfunction at The Alfred. Dr Crowhurst is a senior clinical lecturer at the University of Adelaide and a member of multiple professional bodies including the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand, Australasian Sleep Association, American Academy of Sleep Medicine, Transplantation Society of Australia and New Zealand and International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation.
Dr Crowhurst is committed to his profession. He holds a staff specialist appointment with the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (Lyell McEwin Hospital and Modbury Hospital), where he serves as Head of the Respiratory Unit. He has previously worked as a consultant at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and been engaged as a visiting medical officer at The Alfred. Dr Crowhurst has served on multiple committees for medical, university, representative and charity organisations.
Dr Crowhurst sees private patients at Respiratory SA in Kent Town. He sees public patients at Modbury Hospital. He can provide telehealth consultations where medically appropriate. Dr Crowhurst conducts hospital-based sleep studies at North Eastern Community Hospital, the Oasis Sleep and Wellness Centre, Burnside Hospital and Glenelg Community Hospital. He performs diagnostic bronchoscopy and pleural procedures at Calvary Adelaide Hospital and the Lyell McEwin Hospital.
